a marriage in reverie

i dreamt i met my heart in the unknown,
an enigmatic haze, odd and drear.
he christened me in an ebony lagoon;
under parasite-infested waters.
and underneath, my breath held, lingering,
while my bridal dress drank in the black sea;
while my beloved, voice faraway, sings.
i've never heard a song so heavenly.
so sudden comes the biting twilight wind
as the minister administers his
blessings; asks us to vow, holding the rings.
my dear tells me he's never felt such bliss.
if anything this wake deprived me of,
a dream, i believe, that showed me true love.
